Dr Bluhm, Dr Dorsch and Dr Vandervort have recently opened their state of the art office in Ashburn, Virginia. This office is equipped with the latest in digital diagnostic equipment. Both intraoral digital x-rays and the new cone beam scanner (I-CAT) are used to obtain much more information than traditional x-rays.
The cone beam scanner is a leap above the traditional 2 dimensional x-rays in that it can give us a 3 dimensional anatomically accurate representation of a patient’s anatomy. This is the same information obtained with a medical CAT scanner but with much less radiation exposure. This information can then be manipulated to aid in diagnosis and greatly increase accuracy and patient safety.
In some cases virtual surgery can be performed on an exact replica of a patient prior to performing any surgical procedure on a patient. Surgical guides can be fabricated from this virtual surgery, which allow exact duplication of the virtual surgery. This allows for a more conservative procedure and may even eliminate the traditional incisions used for surgery.
This technology can aid not only in diagnosis and treatment planning for dental implants and reconstruction of the mouth and jaws but all types of procedures such as wisdom teeth removal, trauma and pathology. We will work with your dentist to provide the best possible care for you and your family in a friendly and compassionate environment. We are committed to surgical excellence and patient care.
